Ray Goddard was born in Calgary, Alberta, but was raised in Medicine Hat, Alberta. There, at the age of 12 he received his first camera... a Brownie Hawkeye. His interest was almost immediate, and his father soon built a photographic darkroom in their home. One of his father’s friends was the station photographer for the Federal Experimental Station at nearby Suffield. This friend’s initial guidance started Ray in the right direction. By the time he was 16 he had won the Alberta Professional Photographers annual contest, the image from which was then featured on the Mayor of Medicine Hat’s Christmas cards. Since then he has won numerous local, Provincial, Federal and International awards for photographic images. He currently is a member of the Delta Photo Club, and was President of that organization several times. Also he was invited to join the Western Photographic Circle, a group of senior photographic printers from all over the Lower Mainland of B. C.
Ray has converted completely to digital photography. All his interesting 35mm images have been scanned and many appear in this exhibition. Though interested and involved in most forms of photography, his real love is of “Our Natural World”. The images shown here reflect his love of the great outdoors.
